DEFINITIONS

Cookies are small text files that websites send to user’s terminal when they are visited. Cookies are transmitted back to the websites in the next visits. The so called “third parties” cookies are sent and managed by a site different from the one the user is visiting. This happens because a given website may use elements (images, maps, sounds, links to other web pages and so on) which are stored on servers different from the one being visited.

COOKIE TYPES

Depending by their features, cookies can be classified as follows:

Technical Cookies

These are used just for “what is strictly necessary by a service provider to provide the service as explicitely requested by the user”  (cfr. art. 122, comma 1, of Italian law about Cookie policy)

Technical cookies are not used for any other reason and they are installed by the web site manager (or delegate). They can be session cookies or navigation cookies and they are required for the website to work properly. Some examples are: analytic cookies directly used by the site manager to collect aggregated information about user’s way of visiting the site; functionality cookies released to allow users to properly use the website functionalities and improve the user experience.

This cookies don’t require explicit consensus by the users while the site manager is still responsible to provide information about cookie policy.

Profiling Cookies

These are used to create user’s profiles in order to send advertising or other messages to users according their preference shown during the website navigation. As they (the messages and the information collection) might be undesired by the users, EU lows require the site manager to inform the user and get her/his explicit consensus before use this type of cookies. This site (www.ntfc.it) does not make use of profiling cookies. 

Third parties Cookies

While visiting a website the uers could receive cookies by web sites managed by other organizations (the “third parties”). Some examples being “social plugin” by Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or LinkedIn, or embedded visualization systems such as Youtube and Flikr. These cookies are generated by above mentioned sites and transmitted through the visited website.

DURATION OF COOKIES

Some cookies (session cookies) remain active only until the browser is open or when the user logs out from the site (if applicable). Other cookies remain “persistent” and available to other browser sessions. Some of them have limited duration (as specified by the server) some are unlimited. We do not keep any cookies.
